During the Corona crisis I became more and aware of the way art helps to overcome fear of threat and death. The Medieval tradition of Dance Macabre or Totentanz came to my mind again. This tradition of depicting skeletons inviting people for a deathly dance fitted into my research about labour relationsships and therefore has informed my new project 'Songs of Colonial Labour' of mine.
The people depicted are from various professions and social status, by anyhow all facing the inviting hand of Death.
